Inclusion as a movement advocates for the opportunity for all people to fully participate in society. While there has been much progress on eliminating the historical marginalization of people with disabilities, our communities still have much work to do to create welcoming spaces for all people.
Toward Inclusion draws on a variety of sources—including classic Jewish teachings from the Torah, Jewish thinkers and mystics through the ages as well as social science research, legal theory, and accounts from people with disabilities—to explore the limits of our own perception, the inherent dignity of humanity, social responsibility, and the importance of ethical practice.
An exploration of these teachings, and an examination of how they can be applied in our daily interactions with others, will hopefully serve to develop and nurture true and enduring inclusion in our communities.

Paradigm Shift
The Role of a Rebbe
This class addresses a question that has vexed Jews since the day that Moshe approached a motley crew of Hebrews slaving beneath the harsh Egyptian sun and said, “Follow me!”
What is ideal Jewish leadership? What makes a good Jewish leader? A rabbi is just one example of a leader. In addition to religious leadership, there is political leadership and social leadership, and any number of instances where a man or a woman rises up and shows the way.
We may refer to him as a rebbe, a leader, a master. But what—in Jewish thought and history—makes him who he is?
