Is there something wrong with the way Israel has conducted itself in its attempts to bring peace to the Middle East? Why does it seem that Israel has so many enemies? How important is Israel to me, anyway? Your teen will take a journey; where they will virtually travel through the Holy Land, learn of the history, meaning and holiness of this ancient country. They will see how this faraway place is their home, and how their Jewish identity is connected to it.

LESSON 1: WHY DOES THE WORLD CARE?
In this lesson, students will be introduced to the deep historic ties that have bound Jews to the Land of Israel; we will also discover how this connection goes beyond history—how Israel is linked to our spiritual mission as the Jewish people.
LESSON 2: A DIVINE HOME IN THE HOLY LAND
In this lesson, students will discover why Israel is known as the “Holy Land” and how that impacts us as Jews. Ethical monotheism goes beyond the pursuit of morality discussed in Lesson 1—the Jewish people are destined to be a “light unto the nations,” a designation that introduces a unique connection to G-d to the world, or in one word: “holiness.”
LESSON 3: WHOSE LAND IS IT ANYWAY?
In this lesson, students will further explore the Jewish connection to Israel by addressing the present-day situation there. They will evaluate five claims that we have to the land and understand them in the context of the current conflict in the Middle East.
LESSON 4: IS PEACE POSSIBLE?
In this lesson, students will learn how important it is to stand tall in the face of anti- Israel sentiment. Through strength, peace is possible. Israel is subject to bias from the United Nations and from the media. Sometimes, it seems as if Israel will try anything in the hope of gaining legitimacy in the eyes of the world. Yet, ultimately, the Torah advises that the best way to counter rejudice and to save both Arab and Jewish lives is for Israel to stand up for itself.

LESSON 5: A LAND LIKE OTHER LANDS?
In this lesson, students will explore how we face the challenge of being “a nation like other nations” rather than “a light unto the nations.” The Land of Israel provides us with an opportunity to craft a society that reflects our own uniqueness as Jews and helps us to discover the essence of who we are as a people. Israel is more than just another democratic country; it is also a Jewish one.
LESSON 6: ISRAEL AND THE DIASPORA
In this lesson, students will explore the connection between Jews living in the Diaspora and in the Land of Israel. It will also offer concrete ideas about how to strengthen each student’s ties with our Jewish mission and with Eretz Yisrael.

Shabbos, says the Talmud, is G-d’s gift to the Jewish people – and what a gift it is! It offers respite from labor and a break from the intrusion of our ubiquitous technologies. It allows family and community the time to connect and reflect without distraction. The warm smell of challah, the glowing candles and the comfort of ritual all leave their imprint, shaping forever the meaning of family, peoplehood and one’s place in the universe.
Yet to many, Shabbos is archaic, restrictive and daunting and it is therefore altogether ignored. The objective of this course is to remove the barriers that keep people from enjoying what Shabbos has to offer. We invite women of every level of observance to experience the mystery of this most precious of Jewish treasures on their own level. This mitzvah is not an all-or-nothing proposition, and so this course provides multiple entry points so that students at every level of affiliation can explore meaningful ways to enrich their lives with the lessons of Shabbos.

It’s a journey we all take, and it’s yours to explore this winter.
Jewpernatural: Signs, spirits and superstition in Jewish belief
As we understand the natural world better, we have only grown more fascinated by mysterious topics like the meaning of dreams; the existence of angels, demons, and extraterrestrials; and the power of the evil eye. With record interest inspiring curiosity, dread, and mockery, this course probes the Talmud, Jewish philosophy, and kabbalah to provide Jewish perspectives and guidance for those curious about these perennial questions.
Ever feel like you’re running in circles?
You’ve got a considerate and sensitive side, but then there’s another chaotic part of you that just wants to go wild and throw all that away. You feel caring and nurturing one moment, self-absorbed and aggressive the next. When we’re feeling conflicted and overwhelmed, making sense of our thoughts and emotions isn’t easy, and making any personal progress of any kind feels hopeless. How do we navigate our inner complexity and chart a clear path for ourselves?
The Rosh Chodesh Society’s course, To Believe or Not to Believe Yourself, introduces participants to Tanya, a 225-year-old text whose portrayal of human psychology in general, and of our inner spiritual composition in particular, remains as revolutionary—and as refreshing—as ever. The kabbalah-based tools it presents help us understand ourselves, in order to better regulate how we think and feel, and ultimately emerge victorious from life’s inner struggles.

Nothing is off-limits as this refreshingly open course asks piercing questions about G-d and delivers profound, insightful answers. An enlightening study into G-d’s nature, G-d’s goal for creation, human experiences of G-d, the role of religion, and the function of miracles and prayer, this course promises to satisfy your questions, including those you didn’t know you had.
Most people, even the devout, struggle with beliefs about G-d. It is easy, for example, to affirm the basic tenets of Judaism during a prayer service, but when it comes to trusting G-d with our daily decisions, many share a secret, painful fear that G-d isn’t really looking out for them. Many of us have been brought up under the assumption that mainstream science is incompatible with our Jewish faith. So when we see compelling evidence for biological evolution, for example, we feel forced to choose between science and our faith. Wrestling with Faith was created to tackle questions like these—the “big issues” that keep people from an intimate relationship with G-d. The course acknowledges the often unspoken doubts and fears that all people share, and seizes their invitation for us to dig deeper for the answers.
Discover the core mystical and spiritual teachings of Kabbalah and their relevance to everyday life. You’ll learn to think like a Jewish mystic and gain powerful insights to fuel deeper self-understanding and personal growth. Curious why there’s so much buzz around Kabbalah? Discover it for yourself by attending The World of Kabbalah.

Jewish wisdom teaches profound techniques to give wings to our emotions and words to our yearnings, allowing us to make contact and communicate with something larger than ourselves and feel comfort and shelter within a reality that’s more whole, more intense, more real, and more beautiful.
