The Jewish Secret to Lasting Love
What ancient secret lies at the heart of Jewish marital life that has sustained, nourished, synergized, and sanctified love and desire?
We all start out starry-eyed, but is “passionate marriage” realistic in the long-term? How can one relationship give us the comforting security we crave from commitment as well as the spark of novelty and mystique that fuels affection and attraction? The mitzvah of Taharat Hamishpachah, or “family purity,” has long been shrouded in mystery and misconception. Yet these laws embody the secret to harmonizing these paradoxical aspects of marriage, while also revealing an unparalleled connection between us and G-d
Marriage is the most powerful relationship there is. Not just because marriage is a universal human ideal. Not just because it is the foundation of the family unit. But also because marriage is a union of two as-yet-incomplete souls. The love between husband and wife is not just the product of mutual attraction, but an expression of an intrinsic bond that unites them in heart and mind, body and soul. Indeed, marriage is much deeper, much more meaningful, and much more important than most of us understand. And the key to this sacred institution is G-d’s gift to every Jewish couple: the blessing of family purity.
This three-lesson offering, draws upon millennia of Jewish wisdom, from the mystical to the down-to-earth, allowing men and women of all ages and walks of life to explore the intricacies of love and marriage from a Jewish perspective. The cosmic root of love, Judaism’s view of intimacy, and the synergy and sanctity of love and desire will all be addressed in these classes affording each participant a heartfelt, deep appreciation for the profound impact that the mitzvah of Taharas Hamishpacha can have on the life of a Jewish couple – physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
Whether students are currently married, engaged, considering someday tying the knot, or simply seeking to better understand the spiritual root of lasting love and marriage, Have. Hold. Cherish. will forever change how they think about the most important relationship in life, in all its beauty and complexity.

Shabbos, says the Talmud, is G-d’s gift to the Jewish people – and what a gift it is! It offers respite from labor and a break from the intrusion of our ubiquitous technologies. It allows family and community the time to connect and reflect without distraction. The warm smell of challah, the glowing candles and the comfort of ritual all leave their imprint, shaping forever the meaning of family, peoplehood and one’s place in the universe.
Yet to many, Shabbos is archaic, restrictive and daunting and it is therefore altogether ignored. The objective of this course is to remove the barriers that keep people from enjoying what Shabbos has to offer. We invite women of every level of observance to experience the mystery of this most precious of Jewish treasures on their own level. This mitzvah is not an all-or-nothing proposition, and so this course provides multiple entry points so that students at every level of affiliation can explore meaningful ways to enrich their lives with the lessons of Shabbos.

Most people, even the devout, struggle with beliefs about G-d. It is easy, for example, to affirm the basic tenets of Judaism during a prayer service, but when it comes to trusting G-d with our daily decisions, many share a secret, painful fear that G-d isn’t really looking out for them. Many of us have been brought up under the assumption that mainstream science is incompatible with our Jewish faith. So when we see compelling evidence for biological evolution, for example, we feel forced to choose between science and our faith. Wrestling with Faith was created to tackle questions like these—the “big issues” that keep people from an intimate relationship with G-d. The course acknowledges the often unspoken doubts and fears that all people share, and seizes their invitation for us to dig deeper for the answers.

INSIGHT, a Rosh Chodesh Society course, is a remarkably transformative experience that unveils the purpose, beauty, and power buried within ourselves, our destiny, and all of existence. It does so by distilling the Lubavitcher Rebbe’s unique wisdom and infusing our lives with the ability to see things from his empowering perspective.
Contrary to the idiom, “What you see is what you get,” our sight is superficial, taking in the exterior and leaving the interior undiscovered. With insight, however, we enter within and encounter a deeper, more truthful and divine reality begging to be embraced.
This seven-part course explores the Rebbe’s broad view of the world at large, of our personal failures, of the feminine role, current trends and events, and more. We invite you on a journey in which wild jungles morph into beautiful gardens, dreadful weakness becomes cathartic strength, and blind adherents become conductors of insight….

In our course, “Heroines of the Bible: Her Story – My Story”, we will explore the struggles and challenges, the celebration and redemption, of six key personalities who are central figures in the history of the Jewish people. Empowered by their uniquely feminine qualities and prophetic vision, they inspired not only the women of their respective generations, but also the people as a whole, to identify with their personal mission and spiritual purpose. Today, living in our modern world, we too can connect with these great women, and by tapping into their stories we can attain personal fulfillment and success within our very own stories.

When innocent people are wrongly convicted…
When “correctional facilities” turn first-time offenders into hardened criminals…
When known murderers walk free on a technicality …
Fairness in justice simply cannot be left to chance.
In Crime and Consequence, we explore 3000 years of Jewish wisdom concerning criminal convictions, sentencing, crime prevention, and rehabilitation. We challenge our thinking, pondering the application of Talmudic principles to real and complex, modern-day cases, and we get to the heart of questions such as:
Should we consider testimonies given in exchange for a reduced sentence as reliable evidence?
What is the goal of punishing criminals? is it to gain retribution for the victim, keep criminals off the streets and safeguard from future crime, set an example and instill the fear of law, or to rehabilitate the criminal and reintroduce him to society?
Is life-without-parole a justifiable penalty? Is it within our right to sentence a man to death? When would these be warranted? Is there a better way?

Between Me and G-d: How Jewish Prayer Unites Heaven and Earth
Should we pray? Granted, prayer has been a key feature of Jewish life for four millennia. But what is its goal, how is it done, and why are ancient and formal rituals relevant to us nowadays?
The Rosh Chodesh Society’s course, A Work of Heart, flings the cover off the Jewish prayer book, the prayer services, and the synagogue—exposing the beating and beautiful heart of prayer that breathes within. It reveals prayer as an art and an opportunity, a means of human-to-G-d bonding, a journey of self-discovery, a perspective changer, and an exercise in self-empowerment.
